MAX CAT Corridor Study
Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada

Description

The RTC required the opinions of transit riders regarding the new Metropolitan Area Exress (MAX) transit system. Strategic Solutions' intercept survey team interviewed CAT bus riders and MAX transit riders along Las Vegas Boulevard North, from the Downtown Transportation Center to Nellis Boulevard. Through this processs, the RTC learned which aspects of MAX and CAT transit systems the riders liked best, why they chose to ride one system as opposed to the other, and what the RTC could do to improve the transit experience for its riders. This information was compiled for the purpose of determining if an expansion of existing routes along metropolitan areas and express systems was feasible.

Outcome

RTC planners gleaned valuable information about attitudes, opinions and preferences with regard to transit system service options within the defined study corridor. Shortly after our study, the RTC added a strategically placed transfer stop along the existing MAX route.
